Privacy Policy

ScriptDrag is a Chrome extension that x-rays the third-party scripts on a web page and ranks a kill-list by estimated cost. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles. The short version: the pages you scan are analyzed entirely on your device and are never sent to us.
What stays on your device
- The page's performance data. When you click the icon, ScriptDrag reads the current tab's own Resource Timing (which scripts loaded, their size and load time) from your browser. This analysis happens locally. We never receive, store, or transmit the contents or addresses of the pages you visit.
- Vendor names are looked up offline. Third-party scripts are labeled with a vendor name and category using a dataset bundled inside the extension (the open-source third-party-web dataset). No lookup leaves your device.
- Local settings. Your daily free-usage count, your Pro license key (if entered), an optional report brand name, and a random device identifier are stored in your browser's local storage on your device.
Network requests
- License validation contacts our server. When you activate or re-check a Pro license, the extension sends to our licensing service (operated on Cloudflare) your license key, a random device identifier (used to enforce the per-license device limit; not tied to your identity), and the product name ("scriptdrag"). Nothing else is transmitted, and the free version never contacts our server.
Purchases
Payments for ScriptDrag Pro are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record and is the data controller for your payment information. We do not see or store your card details. From a completed purchase we receive your email address and a transaction identifier, which we use to issue your license key and provide support. See Paddle's privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to ScriptDrag's core function.
- We do not include third-party analytics or tracking in the extension.
ScriptDrag's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.
Permissions
- activeTab — lets the extension read the current page's performance data only after you click the toolbar icon.
- scripting — injects the results panel into the current tab when you invoke it.
- storage — stores your usage count, license key, and report-brand setting locally.
Data retention & your rights
Local data is removed when you uninstall the extension or clear its storage. License records (key, purchase email, device activations) are kept while the license is active. To request access to or deletion of your license data, email us.
